Meet Dana
Proud mom, mayor, small business owner, and Kent native.
”My great great grandparents were from Kent, and four generations later, I still call Kent home today.
About seven years ago, after serving as a councilmember, and in the middle of my fight with breast cancer, Kent residents elected me to represent them as mayor.
From the moment I took my oath of office through today—I’ve never stopped fighting for you and fighting for what’s right.
I’m not a Democrat or a Republican, I don’t want to run for any higher office and I don’t report to any special interests—I’m not afraid to stand up and do what’s right.
We’ve made a lot of progress, and I’m ready for another four years to continue delivering results for you and your family. I would be proud to have your vote and trust to continue serving as your mayor.”

"The last four years [2018-2021] have been tough for our community. Many of us have struggled and things haven’t been easy. But we’ve pulled together, acknowledging our best days are ahead of us.
We’ve been able to show the region that Kent is more than just the land of big hair and big trucks. We’re more than a place on a map. Kent is where progress is made. Where we come together and support each other during hard times, and where we innovate and make a regional impact.
From launching rocket ships into space, to being one of the largest manufacturing and job centers on the West Coast and home to Amazon, Starbucks, Blue Origin and other major companies—Kent contributes to the region, the nation and the world.
It hasn’t been all doom and gloom these last four years.
We’ve created over 10,000 new jobs, we’ve increased both the availability of affordable housing and higher end homes.
We’ve invested in new roads and improving the ones we have so you spend less time in traffic and can get around easier. We’ve also increased our clean up efforts to get litter and graffiti handled faster.
We’ve invested in our parks and recreation programs for you and your family. All while increasing our investment to protect our most vulnerable residents. The whole time increasing our transparency and accessibility for residents to oversee their local government.
It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your mayor. We’ve battled some of the greatest challenges of our lifetime. We’ve accomplished some remarkable things. But our work isn’t over. That’s why I am running for a second term—to finish what we started.
We need to continue putting people before politics. We need to continue building a community that you and your family can be proud of. That means I need you to keep me in the ring—so I can keep fighting for you.
I’m ready to keep moving Kent forward, but I need you to stay with me in the fight, because together we can make Kent a place we are all proud to call home. Together, our best is yet to come.”
